La Lumière Noire: 2019 Burgundy – Côte de Nuits (Dec 2020)

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Grands Vignes Rouge 1er Cru was apparently the last cuvée to be racked. It has a vibrant bouquet, a mixture of red and blue fruit laced with iris and pressed violet aromas; the oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine bead of acidity, fresh and brimming with energy and leading to a focused, persistent finish. I appreciate the chalky edge to this Nuits Saint-Georges, which should age well over the next 15–20 years.
