Long Distance Runner: Brane-Cantenac 1924-2015 (Jan 2019)

The 2013 Brane-Cantenac has a pretty bouquet in context of the growing season, featuring raspberry and strawberry scents on the nose, less of the tobacco element than recent vintages and perhaps less terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, simple and maybe a little monotone, but it is accessible and quite supple on the finish, offering pretty soy-tinged red fruit though cutting away a little swiftly. This will be one of the more short-term releases from the estate, but it is a decent wine for the vintage. Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château.
