Bordeaux 2010: All That Glitters… (May 2011)

(55% cabernet sauvignon, 44.5% merlot, 0.5% cabernet franc; 79 IPT; 13.9% alcohol; 24% of total production) Bright dark ruby. Reticent nose of red fruits, sassafrass and herbs. Easygoing and light on its feet, with sweet, fleshy red fruit flavors showing modest nuance. Finishes slightly warm, with a lingering saline touch and smooth tannins. A richer, bigger Pauillac than usual: it clearly benefited from the inclusion of a cuvee from Latour’s vines close to Batailley.
