2004 Barolo: The Cream Rises to The Top (May 2015)

I have to admit I am personally much more fond of the wines Chiara Boschis is making today than those she was making ten years ago, when she was part of Barolo’s modernist movement. At the same time, though, there is no question her 2004 Barolo Cannubi has aged gracefully in bottle. Fresh, vibrant and beautifully perfumed throughout, the 2004 captures all of the finesse that makes Cannubi so incredibly alluring. The new French oak is present, yet the crystalline purity of Cannubi comes through loud and clear. The fresh, vibrant finish makes it very hard to resist a second taste. This is a stellar showing.
