Picture This: Domaine Henri Gouges 1945 – 2016 (Oct 2018)

The 2010 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru is more intense on the nose compared to the 2009; also earthier and perhaps without the same comely charm. There is just a touch of greenness here, pleasant and not detrimental, yet you cannot ignore it completely. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and finely judged acidity. This exudes finesse and poise, gaining more depth towards the finish with a potent mineral note that defines that aftertaste. It needs three or four more years in bottle but it will be worth the wait. Tasted at the Gouges retrospective at La Cabotte.
