Remember, Remember: 1945 Bordeaux (May 2020)

The 1945 Vintage Port from Taylor's has perhaps always been overshadowed by the legendary 1948, but it deserves respect. This particular vintage was bottled in Portugal because of postwar restrictions that prevented bottling in England. It has a gorgeous cassis, clove and menthol nose that explodes from the glass, developing scents of Christmas cake and pain d'épices with time. The palate displays perfect acidity, unerring transparency and maybe more refinement than the 1924 Taylor's tasted in the same week. Astonishing length, from an astonishing Port. Tasted at Koala's 1945 dinner.
