Herding Cats: Burgfest 2020 – The Reds (Oct 2024)

The 2020 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru has a touch of reduction on the nose, opening gradually in the glass. It offers more red fruit than its peers. Rosehip and touches of tobacco emerge with time. Nicely focused, but this takes time to cohere. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red fruit, muscular compared to its peers, and concentrated but without quite the same level of complexity and nuance on the finish as it showed in the barrel. That will develop with time. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
