Herding Cats: Burgfest 2020 – The Reds (Oct 2024)

The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has slightly darker fruit on the nose: blackberry leaf, cranberry and a touch of sous-bois. It opens nicely in the glass, and the oak is well integrated and becomes more opulent. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh entry and sour cherry mixed with graphite notes. There may be more limestone soils here, as there is noticeable acidity and nerve on the finish. Very fine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
