2008 Red Burgundies (Mar 2011)

Bright medium red. Wild yet delicate aromas of musky raspberry, flowers and earth. Offers compelling subtle sweetness and a light touch, with a stronger peppery element (this was vinified with 50% whole clusters) contributing to the impression of cut. There’s a downright weightless quality to the floral, red berry and spice flavors. Wonderfully detailed wine, finishing suave and very long, with outstanding lift. This is usually the highest in pH in the cellar along with the Charmes-Chambertin, but the pH in 2008 was atypically low. Today, Roumier prefers this to the Bonnes-Mares.
