The 2010 Clarets: A Modern Classic (Jul 2013)

Good red-ruby color. Blackberry, bitter chocolate, licorice and violet on the aromatic nose, plus a high-toned whiff of band-aid. Then dense but dry in the mouth, with blackberry and redcurrant fruit flavors showing a faint leathery, animal character. There’s good ripeness in the mid-palate but the slightly drying tannins give the finish an edgy quality.
