2014 Red Burgundies: Delicious Terroir-Driven Midweights (Mar 2017)

Bright red-ruby. Aromas of cherry, licorice, menthol and fresh herbs are given further punch by pungent minerality. Juicy but a bit youthfully clenched, showing less fat than the 2015 version. The flavors of black cherry and licorice are quite penetrating but the wine’s serious tannins call for considerable aging. This wine was only bottled in mid-June of 2016, after having spent three months in stainless steel tanks.
