1995 and 1994 Bordeaux (May 1996)

1994 Figeac (the final blend represents a 60% selection in ’94, vs. a projected 80% in ’95): Medium color. Aromas of spicy oak, game and tobacco; even cooler than the above wine. Tangy and aromatic in the mouth, but a bit skinny for the year; the animal character follows through on the palate. With less buffering extract, the dusty tannins seem rougher and dryer, and the finish is slightly tart. Not a good showing.
