Buckle Your Seatbelts: 2019 Brunello and 2021 Rosso di Montalcino (Dec 2023)

Remarkably pretty, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Fontelontano blossoms in the glass with an array of dusty violets, wild strawberries and wet stone. This is lifted in feel, with silken textures offset by a core of tactile mineral tones, as ripe wild berry fruits and perfumed inner florals cascade across a stream of zesty acidity. It finishes long and staining, with a coating of sweet tannins that remain as licorice traces and an air of lavender slowly fades. The Vigna Fontelontano is a total success for the vintage, showing its perfumed personality while maintaining a solid core of fruit and regal structure.
