2014 Red Burgundies: Delicious Terroir-Driven Midweights (Mar 2017)

Bright medium red, a bit less deep than the preceding wines. Sexy leesy wildness to the aromas of black raspberry, blackcurrant and minerals. At once sweet and savory, showing excellent chewy depth for the 2015 vintage, and an impression of concentration that belies the yield of 48 hectoliters per hectare. In a distinctly black fruit style, conveying terrific inner-mouth lift and energy to its flavors of blueberry, cassis and minerals. The ripe tannins saturate the entire mouth on the back end, with saline minerality drawing out the finishing fruit. This is showing more personality today than the Murgers and may provide pleasure earlier, but it has the structure for a 20-year life in bottle.
