Red Burgundy ’16 & ’15: Superb Vintages, Different Styles (Jan 2018)

(just one and a half barrels made, from the estate’s tiniest holding): Bright, dark red with ruby tones. Very pure, expressive aromas and flavors of black cherry, dark raspberry, licorice and violet. Boasts compelling creamy sweetness and sappiness on the front end but the wine’s pungent minerality kicks in on the back, giving terrific lift to the suavely tannic, palate-staining finish. Combining the energy of the Suchots and the sophistication of the Aux Brûlées, this wine displays grand cru intensity and class.
