The 2013 Red Burgundies: Fascinating and Challenging (Mar 2016)

Healthy dark red. Wilder and deeper on the nose than the Charmes, offering scents of raspberry, menthol and game. Sweet and flavorful in the mouth, showing a surprisingly supple texture for a 2013 grand cru. This wine was almost painfully imploded a year ago from barrel but boasts terrific breadth and grain today. Finishes suave and quite long, with substantial, slightly dusty tannins and the mid-palate sweetness to support them. Confuron advises drinking this wine tonight or in ten years, as he believes it will be totally closed in five or six years.
