2008 Red Burgundies (Mar 2011)

Good full red. Slightly high-toned, medicinal aromas and flavors of black cherry, licorice and mint. Then classically dry and tight on the palate, in fact downright austere today, with more of the classic pepperiness of 2008 than the Charmes is showing today. Finishes with dusty, serious tannins. I wouldn’t go near this for eight to ten years. A bit of a cipher today and not showing the sweetness it displayed from the barrel.
