2016 White Burgundy: Excellent, But Complicated (Sep 2018)

Bright medium yellow. Inviting aromas and flavors of lemon drop and musky lees lifted by floral and mineral elements. The light sulfidey character follows through on the palate, adding an element of complexity to this rather powerful, youthfully clenched wine. Offers an uncommon combination of density, definition and inner-mouth lift and finishes with a firm spine of tannins. There’s still some musky oak to be absorbed but this very promising Combettes should enjoy a slow and graceful evolution.
