A Vintage with Issues: Burgundy 2021 (Oct 2025)

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots 1er Cru has a nose that feels a bit pushed along in the winery and does not quite compensate for the lack of complexity and nuance. Perhaps it will develop into something more interesting with time? The palate is medium-bodied with grainy, slightly rigid tannins. Drier than its peers, it attenuates and feels comparatively linear and a bit raw on the finish. Compromised by the challenges of the growing season, though not totally without merit, I would drink this over the next decade. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
