2008 Red Burgundies (Mar 2011)

Good medium red. Ripe, aromatic nose of dark berries, licorice and flowers, complicated by musky leather and earth nuances. Much sweeter and richer, not to mention refined, than the Clos des Fourches, which is made mostly from younger vines in the Clos. Spice and pepper notes contribute to this wine’s juiciness, and a whiff of blood orange adds lift. Finishes long and firm but not dry. Youthfully tight but sexy wine.
