2016 White Burgundy: Excellent, But Complicated (Sep 2018)

Pale yellow with a green tinge. Some deeper-pitched soil notes complement fresh peach, lemon, lime and noble herbs on the nose. The first obviously saline of these 2016s to this point, offering excellent depth of flavor and lovely finesse and thrust. This chewy yet refined wine will rely as much on its supporting minerality as on its acidity for longevity. In fact, the pH here of 3.54 is the highest among these ’16s along with the Clos de la Garenne. (13.2% alcohol; 3.85 g/l acidity)
