The Good, Bad and Ugly: Burgundy 2010, 2003 & 2004 (Jun 2020)

The 2003 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Fôrets Saint-Georges 1er Cru offers light soy-tinged red fruit on the nose, turning chocolaty with aeration and maintaining decent definition. The palate is medium-bodied with soft red fruit, overripe strawberries mixed with leather and spice, rather attenuated and missing some grip toward a finish that fades in the glass. Tasted at Sarah Marsh’s 2003/2004 tasting in London.
