2002 and 2001 Red Burgundies (Mar 2004)

Medium red. Smoky red fruits, underbrush and a strong mineral note on the nose. Supple and ripe but less precise than the Veroilles; in a somewhat drier style. Notes of mocha and brown spices are true to the appellation. (Clair’s Aloxe-Corton was due for a racking and was too reduced and full of gas to assess.)
