Blind Vision: 2015 Burgundy Red & White (Nov 2018)

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has a noticeable liquorish scent on the nose that rather detracts from the terroir expression. This recedes with aeration, revealing more mineral notes and good delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with taut tannin and very linear and strict in style, but the new oak is very nicely integrated and there is a sorbet-like freshness toward the finish. It needs several years but this should turn out to be a fine Les Amoureuses, even if it does not match my expectations from barrel. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
