Southwold: 2016 Bordeaux, Ten Years On

The 2016 Les Carmes Haut-Brion has quite a backward nose that opens nicely in the glass: blackberry, red brick/gravel, touches of undergrowth emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, fleshy and ripe, with good backbone. Weighty on the finish, with white pepper and bay leaf on the aftertaste, this is a very fine Les Carmes Haut-Brion. Tasted at Bordeaux Index’s 10-Year-On tasting in London.
