A Vintage with Issues: Burgundy 2021 (Oct 2025)

The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a generous fruit-forward nose with gushing red cherry and crushed strawberry scents. There’s something a little “tinny” about this. The palate is soft on the entry with sour cherry and graphite notes to the fore, but the finish feels a bit raw and undernourished. This feels quite evolved and I’m not sure about its future, hence my parsimonious score. I wonder how representative this example is. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
