2004 and 2003 Red Burgundies (Mar 2006)

Full red-ruby. Superripe nose hints at kirsch and almost port-like damp earth. Then huge, sweet and thick in the mouth, and fresher than the nose suggests, with a floral element emerging to lift the powerful red berry fruit. A wine of impressive volume and dimension, finishing with big but thoroughly ripe tannins. This grand cru seemed to grow livelier with aeration, suggesting it will age well.
