Champagne: The 2026 Spring Preview

The 1989 Cristal Rosé is powerful, wild and exotic. Dried rose petal, spice, dried cherry and mint are some of the many notes that are amplified. Intense heat caused the winery’s cooling system to fail, so the 1989 Cristal Rosé is the first vintage in which fruit was cooled with dry ice, with an extended cold maceration Roederer later adopted and refined as standard practice. Time and aeration bring out layers of textural resonance that build through the mid-palate and into the huge, enveloping finish. Dosage is 11 grams per liter. Disgorged: 1986.
