A Century of…Sixes: 1846-2016

The 2006 Haut-Brion is a vintage that I have not tasted for some years. This ex-château magnum is drinking beautifully at 20 years old. The nose is quite potent with red and black fruit, salted liquorice and more glycerine than I expected. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe, slightly glossy tannins and very flattering, mineral-infused red berry fruit. Hints of spice come through towards the simply joyful finish. Bright and lively, this Haut-Brion is utterly charming.
