Bordeaux 2012: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (May 2013)

(80% cabernet franc and 20% merlot): Bright, full ruby. Perfumed aromas of strawberry, white pepper, graphite and cocoa. Clean and fresh but quite closed on the palate, with hints of raspberry syrup, pepper and minerals. Opened nicely and showed increasing sweetness with air, finishing suave and long, with a repeating floral quality. That a wine with such a high percentage of cabernet franc could be so good in 2012 is a testament to the talents of the team at Le Dome.
