Long Distance Runner: Brane-Cantenac 1924-2015 (Jan 2019)

The 1983 Brane-Cantenac was picked from September 26 to October 17 following a blissfully clement late September. It is showing signs of maturity on the rim, but do not let that dissuade you from venturing further, because it boasts a sublime bouquet of red berry fruit, pressed flowers, cedar and hints of cigar humidor. Just wonderful! The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannin, yet there is still admirable structure, a fine thread of acidity and a harmonious, persistent finish of blackberry, cedar, clove and tobacco. Superb. Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château.
