2011 and 2010 White Burgundies (Sep 2012)

Good bright straw-yellow. Ripe nectarine lifted by nutmeg and lavender on the nose. Large-scaled, smooth and sweet; not a particularly refined style of Corton-Charlemagne but impressive for its plush, ripe middle and its intense flavors of stone fruits, aromatic spices, powdered stone and menthol. Plenty of acidity here to give it lift. Finishes dry and energetic, with a light dusting of tannins. I’d like to revisit this fascinating wine several years down the road, after it’s had a chance to burn off some of its baby fat.
