Dom Pérignon: A Rosé Retrospective: 1962-2004 (May 2015)

The 1969 Dom Pérignon Rosé (magnum), from an extraordinarily challenging vintage marked by both frost and, later in the year, botrytis, is off the charts. There is not much more I can say than that. Remarkably dense and powerful for a wine of its age, the 1969 captivates the senses with a magnificent, exotic bouquet, seemingly endless layers of fruit and stunning overall balance. Hints of dried cherry, rose petal and orange rind linger on the exquisite, sweet finish. In an evening of great Champagnes, the 1969 takes its place as one of the best. Unforgettable.
