Blind Vision: 2015 Burgundy Red & White (Nov 2018)

The 2015 Corton Clos des Cortons Grand Cru has a tightly wound bouquet of black cherries mixed with raspberry and iodine, making it one of the most backward Cortons on the nose at this stage. The palate is structured and masculine and a little austere at the moment, but in a positive sense. This is keeping to itself at the moment – a Corton designed for long-term aging. My concern is the wood tannins on the finish that usurp the fruit and leave a bitter residue in the mouth. Perhaps it is just a phase. I leave a question mark against my score, as this could go either way. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
