New Zealand Reds: Treading Lightly (Apr 2022)

The 2020 Pinot Noir Bannockburn Vineyard is initially elegant and fragrant, offering a mid-weight style that captures herbals, pure black cherry and integrated oak-derived spices. The elegance turns to power on the finish, with a structured frame of tannins and acid drive lending force and length. There’s excellent concentration of fruit – yields were down 50% due to poor flowering leading to small crops. A grown-up wine that will cope with cellaring.
