Thrice Is Nice: Bordeaux 2020 in Bottle (Feb 2023)

The 2020 Clos l’Eglise, which was rather reticent en primeur, is now more expressive on the nose with blackberry, raspberry, cedar and freshly-rolled tobacco, becoming ever more floral with aeration. There is a lot of horsepower here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, slightly granular in texture, immense depth and weight. Yes, there are some wood tannins the will need to be assimilated, but that just needs cellar and a bit of patience.
