Rioja: The Past Is Always Present (Apr 2021)

Lurid ruby. Heady, smoke-accented aromas of cherry preserves, blueberry, vanilla and mocha; a sexy floral note emerges as the wine opens up. Broad, fleshy and sweet on the palate, offering intense, oak-spiced black and blue fruit flavors that are sharpened by smoky mineral and cracked pepper flourishes. Finishes very long and smooth, with resonating blue fruit and spice notes and rounded, even tannins that come in late. Malo in new French oak barrels, followed by nine months of aging in new and used French oak barrels.
