Southwold: 2016 Bordeaux Blind (Aug 2020)

The 2016 Quinault l’Enclos was perhaps showing a little brettanomyces on a nose of red fruit infused with saddle leather and game, although I never detected this on previous examples and it still has plenty of charm. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, rather chewy in texture and missing a little finesse on the finish compared to its peers. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.
