Vintage Champagne (Nov 2013)

(disgorged February, 2013): Light yellow. Deeply pitched orchard fruit and fig aromas give way to brighter lemon and floral qualities with aeration. Pliant pear and lemon curd flavors coat the palate, enlivened by a gentle mineral quality. Finishes on a smoky note, with lingering anise and honeysuckle nuances and excellent persistence. Showing more complexity than the earlier disgorgement that I tasted for last year’s article. This wine’s fruit was sourced entirely from the grand crus Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Chouilly.
