Vingt-Vingt Vins: Bordeaux 2020 (May 2021)

The 2020 Certan de May has a light blackberry and briar nose with just a touch of undergrowth, but it’s missing some presence (highlighted when following the excellent ‘20 Bonalgue). The palate is medium-bodied and balanced with firm, slightly rigid tannins. There is fine acidity but what is missing is complexity and personality. Every vintage I seek the Certan de May that I know and love, but this is a property that has inexplicably lost its mojo. I hope it finds it soon.
