Red Burgundy ’16 & ’15: Superb Vintages, Different Styles (Jan 2018)

(the crop was cut 50% by frost): Bright dark red. Pure aromas of dark raspberry and bitter chocolate lifted by a note of blood orange. Juicy, savory wine with lovely energy and mineral thrust to its flavors of dark berries, spices and saline minerality. A restrained sweetness is currently swallowed up by a slight greenness. This persistent, firm-edged wine will rely more on its acidity than on its tannins for longevity.
