Dealing with the New Paradigm: Burgundy 2018 (Nov 2022)

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru is well-defined on the nose once it addresses a bit of reduction: pure red berries, orange pith and pressed flower notes. Hints of fig jam emerge with time but do not impede the terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, certainly one of the spicier, perhaps East Asian-tinged Les Cazetiers with just a touch of dryness on the finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.
