2002 and 2001 Red Burgundies (Mar 2004)

Good bright red. Reduced aromas of black fruits. Less fruity and more minerally than the Combottes, but extremely closed and tough today, even a bit dry on the finish. Barthod says this was much more elegant than the Combottes at an earlier stage, but is developing at a snail’s pace as it’s in the coldest corner of the cellar. Almost certainly richer than it’s showing today.
