Annual Coverage of California’s Central Coast (Nov 2012)

(85% syrah, 5% grenache, 3% petite sirah, 5% roussanne and 2% viognier; 15.2% alcohol; aged in 59% new French oak): Vivid purple. Pungent aromas of cherry, black raspberry and violet, along with spice and floral overtones. Bright and energetic on the palate, displaying cherry-cola and dark berry flavors and energizing spiciness. Dusty, fine-grained tannins add support to the very sweet, persistent, well-focused finish. Shows a very suave blend of richness and vivacity, which Krankl attributes to the roussanne component in the blend.
