The 2010 Clarets: A Modern Classic (Jul 2013)

Bright red-ruby. Dark cherry, smoke, graphite and tobacco on the expressive nose, plus a note of chocolatey ripeness. At once rich and very dry, with round, fine-grained flavors of plum, tobacco and minerals. Rather youthfully withdrawn today and hiding more than it’s showing. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and intriguing suggestions of olive, herbs, minerals and pepper. A strong vintage for this property, but give it at least five years in the cellar.
