Buckle Your Seatbelts: 2019 Brunello and 2021 Rosso di Montalcino (Dec 2023)

The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino blossoms in the glass with a burst of crushed cherries and cloves complicated by shaved cedar and sage. It’s round and soothing on the palate, with juicy acidity and a core of sour berries pinching at the cheeks as pretty inner rose tones cascade. It finishes with admirable length and is still lightly tannic, leaving a pleasant, chewy sensation. Licorice notes slowly fade. I am completely in love with the 2010s ability to show such fantastic energy yet also depth and complexity. Bravo.
