1982 Bordeaux, 20 Years On (Jul 2002)

Full red, with a hint of amber at the rim. Aromas of plum syrup, redcurrant, cedar, minerals, coffee and earth, with a tight core of spice. Thick, sweet and plush, with lovely restrained sweetness and solid underlying minerality. As rich as this is, its firm spine of acidity and substantial ripe tannins should enable it to develop for at least another 10 to 15 years. My second bottle was more bound-up and muscular in style but very Pauillac and of roughly the same quality, with lovely acidity and grip. Now through 2020.
