1996 and 1995 Red Burgundies (Mar 1998)

Deeper, more saturated red. Perfumed but shy aromas of redcurrant, minerals and truffle. The richest and deepest of these ’95s, with a chewy texture, but extremely unevolved. Quite tannic today. Claude says this wine benefitted from an especially soft bottling by gravity without fining or filtration. But it’s a rough mouthful today. Judgment deferred.
