1998 and 1997 Red Burgundies (Mar 2000)

Deep bright ruby. Explosive aromas of black raspberry, mocha, smoked meat and sweet oak; strong torrefaction aspect. Fatter, sweeter and more aromatic in the mouth than the above; an outsized premier cru that really reverberates on the palate and aftertaste. Plenty of supporting structure to frame the fruit. Finishes very long, with substantial but ripe tannins.
