1999 and 1998 Red Burgundies (Mar 2001)

Bright ruby-red. Expressive aromas of black plum, blackberry and roast coffee. Sweet, ripe and quite plush; perhaps less shapely and fine than the Vosne Beaumonts but at least as concentrated. But this offers lovely purity of fruit and a sweet, pliant finish, with rather noble tannins. Atypically open for this wine at this stage of its evolution.
